RIP, DWJ

Away from home at the moment, so this is just a quick hopskipjump on here, but I could not let the passing of Diana Wynne Jones yesterday go unmentioned. She is my absolute favorite author of all time (as anyone who knows me probably knows too well; I obsess a bit), and I was so sad to hear the news. My castle is subsequently being filled with mopey green slime as I sit in my fanciest of dressing gowns. Only the witchy dance helps chase the sorrow away.

Diana, you will be greatly missed. Thanks for writing so many books that even though I’ve read them all, I can always go back and find one that’s been waiting for a re-read, and that will always be wonderful, magical, fantastic.

Someone out there might recall that about a year ago I put out a call for submissions for a Diana Wynne Jones zine, intending to make something to send to Diana to show the appreciation of her fans. The project got delayed, and now I plan to bring it back in the form of a memorial tribute to Diana. I’m going to be away for a couple weeks, but when I get back, I’ll be updating the very out-of-date zine website and calling for submissions again, so please keep it in mind and check back if you’re interested!

  1. I’ll definitely be checking back. I’d love to contribute something to the zine! :)

  2. I was very sad to find out that Diana passed away.

And I’ll be checking back. I’d like to submit something for the zine again. I submitted something back when you first announced it on LiveJournal. I think I’ll start writing something soon so it’ll be ready for whenever you decide you want to make the zine.

Yeah, it was a sad day indeed.

Thanks for checking in about the zine. I still have the initial submissions, so when I get it rolling again, you can either send something new or use your old one. I’ve been a bit too busy lately to start this up again, but it IS still in the works. Thanks for your interest!
